This series is so good! And I accept that it’s over, but I think there’s a lot more story that could’ve been told! At least the cat survived!!

4+ What a good spy series。 For some reason I thought there was another volume to the series so I wasn’t expecting an ending, but I got one and luckily it was good。 Bittersweet, and following Natasha’s story was a rollercoaster, but one I’m glad to have rode。 The series got better and better with each volume as the web started coming together, the action carrying more and more weight。 Natasha is a very complex character, with perhaps no one in the Marvel Universe with as much contrast between lig 4+ What a good spy series。 For some reason I thought there was another volume to the series so I wasn’t expecting an ending, but I got one and luckily it was good。 Bittersweet, and following Natasha’s story was a rollercoaster, but one I’m glad to have rode。 The series got better and better with each volume as the web started coming together, the action carrying more and more weight。 Natasha is a very complex character, with perhaps no one in the Marvel Universe with as much contrast between light and dark。 She’s an Avenger, a SHIELD Agent, and a hero。。。but she’s done some fucked up stuff。 Stuff that makes you really question if she should be forgiven, or would be, if everyone knew about her past。 That’s her schtick, so to speak, but it’s well executed here because throughout she’s been admirable and you’re obviously rooting for her, but by the end, I’m really not sure if I should like her at all。 She’s finally catching up to Chaos and it’s operatives, and the result was not expected at all。 It’s an interesting direction, though I will say I think the climax of the arc may have been to abrupt。 It’s the arc that’s been carried through all 3 volumes, but ends relatively quick。 If that was intentional to hit home the idea that the real story wasn’t the omniscient agency, but the complexity and turmoil of Natasha, I could see that。 I warmed up to Phil Noto’s art for the series, though it’s not my favorite。 But it fits well enough and he draws a great Natasha。 It was spy thriller through and through, but with more emotion or thoughts provoked than I might’ve expected。 Thoroughly enjoyed the whole series and highly recommend, and I hope to see an omnibus!EDIT: did a little reading on Edmondson (as I was surprised there wasn’t already an omnibus) and while I didn’t see any explicit evidence, I am totally fine with the fact there is no omnibus or collected edition! 。。。more

The whole Chaos thing fell totally flat for me。 The final two issues which started to explore her childhood and time as a KGB assassin felt like kind of stories we could’ve/should’ve been getting most of this series。

5 stars。 Reading this entire 20-issue run was an otherworldly experience。 Particularly this issue。 Love Natasha。 Love the ending - the ambiguous closure we are left with and her flashbacks as not only a young girl training in the Red Room, but as a newly recruited Black Widow operating in espionage and doing whatever it takes to prove her worth and loyalty as an asset to the KGB。 Her past is mysterious and enthralling, and although it is addictive to learn more about it, as guaranteed by the 5 stars。 Reading this entire 20-issue run was an otherworldly experience。 Particularly this issue。 Love Natasha。 Love the ending - the ambiguous closure we are left with and her flashbacks as not only a young girl training in the Red Room, but as a newly recruited Black Widow operating in espionage and doing whatever it takes to prove her worth and loyalty as an asset to the KGB。 Her past is mysterious and enthralling, and although it is addictive to learn more about it, as guaranteed by the assassin herself, "No one will ever know my full story。" 。。。more

It's ended and I did enjoy reading this series。 The artwork was amazing for the whole series。 There was some sad parts but overall I was pleased with reading it。 It's always great to see Winter Soldier show up。 This is my first Black Widow series I've read as a whole and I would recommend it to others, it was fast and fun read。 It's ended and I did enjoy reading this series。 The artwork was amazing for the whole series。 There was some sad parts but overall I was pleased with reading it。 It's always great to see Winter Soldier show up。 This is my first Black Widow series I've read as a whole and I would recommend it to others, it was fast and fun read。 。。。more

I again enjoyed this third and final volume in this Black Widow series。(A review for the entire series and more can be found on my blog!)The art was very consistent throughout the entire series, something I'm a fan of and I mostly liked the artwork itself too。 The story was very fast paced with lots of action in this volume which made for another quick read。 But like in the previous volumes I felt like sometimes I didn't quite grasp what was going on。 Especially the final two chapters were a bit I again enjoyed this third and final volume in this Black Widow series。(A review for the entire series and more can be found on my blog!)The art was very consistent throughout the entire series, something I'm a fan of and I mostly liked the artwork itself too。 The story was very fast paced with lots of action in this volume which made for another quick read。 But like in the previous volumes I felt like sometimes I didn't quite grasp what was going on。 Especially the final two chapters were a bit confusing。I again loved the cameos of other characters, although Bucky and Nat kinda broke my heart。 Yes, I officially ship them now。 Another thing I loved were the flashbacks to her childhood。 Sweet and heartbreaking at the same time。 All in all an enjoyable series that gives new readers some insight to Nat's character and offers some great spy thriller content and a kickass heroine - or anti-heroine, you decide。 Even though sometimes a bit confusing, I'd recommend this series! 。。。more

I ended up feeling that this book encapsulates everything I struggle with for liking Natasha as a character。 Let me explain, I loved the last little arch with the two comics titled January which followed one of her past jobs in Cuba working with a friend。 I also really liked the stuff with Chaos where he was introducing Natasha to what could be her future and also having us delve further into her past。 I really never could get myself grounded in the present Natasha storyline。 She's doing this wh I ended up feeling that this book encapsulates everything I struggle with for liking Natasha as a character。 Let me explain, I loved the last little arch with the two comics titled January which followed one of her past jobs in Cuba working with a friend。 I also really liked the stuff with Chaos where he was introducing Natasha to what could be her future and also having us delve further into her past。 I really never could get myself grounded in the present Natasha storyline。 She's doing this whole I'm a sad sociopath thing, I can't have human connections and it just isn't working。 Especially with the whole, "okay, bye, going to retire now" *continues reading a couple more pages* "sike, I'm back, who knows what I'll do。" It just never felt meaningful。 And then it's further complicated by her whole "no one will ever really know me, so don't try," yet this is full of backstory and flashbacks? It was just doing a lot with no clear way forward。 。。。more

Continues the Chaos storyline。 Turns out it's about totalitarianism, not chaos at all。 The build up is pretty good but the ending is abrupt。 Then there's two issues which are billed as part of the Last Days crossover, but are really mostly flashbacks to Natasha's time with the Red Room。Phil Noto changes his style from painterly to more solid inks。 So I liked it more, but others may not。 Continues the Chaos storyline。 Turns out it's about totalitarianism, not chaos at all。 The build up is pretty good but the ending is abrupt。 Then there's two issues which are billed as part of the Last Days crossover, but are really mostly flashbacks to Natasha's time with the Red Room。Phil Noto changes his style from painterly to more solid inks。 So I liked it more, but others may not。 。。。more

I wasn't blown away by this and though I liked it, I felt that something was lacking。I really like Natasha and I loved the back story。 Yet, somehow I'm not satisfied with the way this ended。 It just felt so depressing。 My favourite thing about this series will definitely be the art work。 It's gorgeous and it's also one of the reasons I kept reading this volume。I wish I could see Natasha's character develop a little, I wish I could see her form relationships apart from Liho。That being said, I may I wasn't blown away by this and though I liked it, I felt that something was lacking。I really like Natasha and I loved the back story。 Yet, somehow I'm not satisfied with the way this ended。 It just felt so depressing。 My favourite thing about this series will definitely be the art work。 It's gorgeous and it's also one of the reasons I kept reading this volume。I wish I could see Natasha's character develop a little, I wish I could see her form relationships apart from Liho。That being said, I may not have loved this volume, but I definitely liked it。 。。。more

Who is behind Chaos? What do they want? Can Natasha take them alone? All these questions and more will be answered in the final volume of Nathan Edmondson's masterful Black Widow run。 We've seen Natasha at her best, and we have seen her fail。 We've seen her question herself, but we've not yet seen her fall。 Will she fall against this threat? It's hard to tell, but I have a feeling she'll manage。。。The artwork is, as always, truly breathtaking and the story hits all the right beats。 This is a quick read - edge of your seat adventure and spycraft on full display。 This volume even delves into her past and the Red Room, albeit just enough to make you want more as Black Widow always tends to。 She'll never tell you everything, after all。I'll definitely be reading more Black Widow after this。 It's a shame I know the movie definitely can't measure up。 。。。more

Cloak and dagger spy adventures。 The heart and soul of the Black Widow。 This is her forte, being a spy, cold-hearted when the need arises。 Not out in deep space fighting Thanos or such。 These stories bring out the bad a## in the Black Widow。 Thanks to Comixology Unlimited, I have been able to read all 3 Volumes of this version of the Black Widow (issues #1 to #20)。 Excellent stories and plots。 I have several other BW collections to choose from next。

So, it really is over。 I finally finished the last volume of this run and I don’t have the words to describe how I feel about the ending。 It was。。。confusing?! The writing was often inconclusive and it left some questions unanswered。 The art was worth it though。 If you need a reason to pick this run up, THAT is it。 There is no shame in doing it and loving it just because of the artwork。 Last thoughts: I love Natasha Romanoff and her cat。

Eh。 This issue was still good, but it let me down after volumes 1 and 2。 It seemed rushed, and with that, it felt like being told a summary of what happened instead of a story。 Still worth the read, and doesn't hurt the overall series much。 Eh。 This issue was still good, but it let me down after volumes 1 and 2。 It seemed rushed, and with that, it felt like being told a summary of what happened instead of a story。 Still worth the read, and doesn't hurt the overall series much。 。。。more

This volume shows Natasha choosing to face the future head on instead of trying to remove all the red in her ledger。 Choosing the Avengers over S。H。I。E。L。D。 I guess means choosing to do good with a team with a family so she wouldn't be in a position again of morally gray areas alone。 However the series failed to prove how big of a threat Chaos is like every other evil groups in Marvel Universe。 But it's good to know how far she'd gone in those early days as a KGB spy。 This volume shows Natasha choosing to face the future head on instead of trying to remove all the red in her ledger。 Choosing the Avengers over S。H。I。E。L。D。 I guess means choosing to do good with a team with a family so she wouldn't be in a position again of morally gray areas alone。 However the series failed to prove how big of a threat Chaos is like every other evil groups in Marvel Universe。 But it's good to know how far she'd gone in those early days as a KGB spy。 。。。more

This volume was just as good as the second, although I was hoping it'd be much better, but I'm not complaining。 I wasn't struggling as much with trying to understand the story line in this one which I'm quite grateful for, however the ending was either a bit anticlimactic, felt rushed, and/ or I understood a bit less than I thought I did。 Altogether, I'm very pleased this was my very first Black Widow comic and won't be stopping with this one。 This volume was just as good as the second, although I was hoping it'd be much better, but I'm not complaining。 I wasn't struggling as much with trying to understand the story line in this one which I'm quite grateful for, however the ending was either a bit anticlimactic, felt rushed, and/ or I understood a bit less than I thought I did。 Altogether, I'm very pleased this was my very first Black Widow comic and won't be stopping with this one。 。。。more

Kinda sad that such a great run had such a lame ending。The last few comics are split into two part parts, Then and Now。 Then is a pretty good (but depressing) story on Nat’s past as a assassin。 The Now is barely there at all。 The world is ending (no idea how or why) and Nat is trying to rescue as many as possible。 It makes zero sense and probably should have been completely left out。The rest (12-18) is pretty good, but got really weird with a magic mystical being messing around with the future。 Kinda sad that such a great run had such a lame ending。The last few comics are split into two part parts, Then and Now。 Then is a pretty good (but depressing) story on Nat’s past as a assassin。 The Now is barely there at all。 The world is ending (no idea how or why) and Nat is trying to rescue as many as possible。 It makes zero sense and probably should have been completely left out。The rest (12-18) is pretty good, but got really weird with a magic mystical being messing around with the future。 Sigh。 Oh well。 The art is still beautiful 。。。more
